Is there a good balance between price and reliability when putting a turbo in a car?

I'm sure most people have asked the same question, but l'm honestly not seeing a lot of answers. I have a 2017 Camaro 2ss 50th anniversary edition, and I want to get a turbo for it, except i know absolutely nothing about turbos, and very little about cars. i asked genuinely ai how expensive it was, and it was saying over 7k. is it really that expensive? i genuinely thought it was as simple as attaching a turbo in the car and then tuning. i'm not looking for a crazy boost i just want more than what i'd get from a fuel tune or cold air intake, and i don't want to do anything crazy to my exhaust. but i obviously don't want my engine to explode because i chose the cheapest option, is there any good balance inbetween? maybe 1-2k or less?
