Are the children Peranakan? Malay and Chinese mix

Guy is Malay and girl is Chinese, both intend to have children. Are the kids registered as Peranakan in Singapore? Or classified as “Other” in National Registry?

I’m a bit confused because when I discuss about peranakan many people use it in relational context of heritage and history, despite the term “Peranakan” generally refers to a person of mixed Chinese and Malay/Indonesian heritage.

And I don’t encounter any real life example from friends, acquaintances and colleagues yet to draw conclusion from.

But Singapore being diverse, I’m sure there are couples with this background out there that can advise?
