Friend owes me money - high 3 figure sum.

my “best”friend from school borrowed over $1k around 1 year ago and paid back some of the money a few months ago. I have been constantly reminding her to pay me back but she never replies to my messages. I even tried to settle this with her mother but it turns out futile.

I would like to ask for some advise here if I should make a police report. If so, what actions will the police take?

3 figures may seem little to many people, but I’m still studying and working PT so this sum is a lot to me.
