Any idea who made this copy of Carlo Maratti’s 1663 “A Young Man”??
Hey all. I am an intern at an art gallery and someone brought this in today asking for an appraisal. The owner of the gallery asked me to research up on this a little and I haven't found much except that I think it is a copy of Carlo Maratti's "portrait of a young man" from 1663, which currently resides in a museum in Berlin. Both paintings have the same dimensions. I tried to google "copies of Carlo Maratti's portrait of bla bla.." in hopes to find info on early copies done by another prominent artist/ factory/school but haven't found anything yet. What do you all think? There is nothing written on the front or back of this painting, but I should have included a picture of the back anyway, my bad. Also if anyone knows who this young man is that would be cool.
