my shoes suck (help)

I've been polising my shoes for probably 2 or 3 hours and i've seen no improvement at all like none, and i don't know what to do.

The way I polish my shoes are: Wet cotten then swab it over polish then apply to shoe doing small circles. In attempt to save myself some time I used my hairdryer (on cold setting) to dry my shoes then repeat.

My shoes looked way worse before I rubbed the rag over it and I don't know what i'm doing wrong, so any advice would be really appretiated
