I want the brothers to have a real fight...
I DO like the friendship and their brotherhood between Rhys, Cassian and Azriel, BUT... they are not equal. This is not just a matter of status (Rhysand is their high lord), but also of internalized sentiment. Cassian and Azriel love Rhys and feel that they owe him for getting them out of pretty shitty lives. So even when he makes questionable decisions they do not oppose him; not in a real way at least.
Cassian does not rise to the occasion when Rhys degrades and threatens Nesta. When Rhys pulls rank on Azriel in the bonus chapter we see that Azriel is sad and Sarah has even added a bit of context in interviews to Azriel 's(somewhat childishly) retaliation during the snowball fight, but he still doesn't take a real stand. And of course neither of them speaks up when Rhys is hiding the truth about Feyre's pregnancy.
Their relationship is not as bad as Tamlin and Lucien's. There IS real trust and Rhys does not consciously and actively put them through things that harm them. Yet not everything is perfect between them and I'm tired of them pretending that it is just because Cassian and Azriel suck everything up. At some point in the series I want them to have a monumental fight. One that feels proportionate to a centuries-old friendship in which too many things have piled up. Of course I also want them to make up eventually, but first? I need a reckoning. It's the only way that their bond will feel real to me again.
