Insurance doesn't cover WL Meds & Doctor doesn't recommend compounding pharmacies. Any suggestions
I had an appointment with my doctor this week and she prescribed me to Zepbound! The issue is that my insurance does not cover any weight loss medications - including semaglutide and trizepatide. It's a plan exclusion, my dr sent a PA over and it was automatically denied.
After doing some research and seeing a lot of ads, asked my doctor about recommendations on compounding pharmacies that yield the best results and are the safest. She sent me a strongly worded, yet generic message saying that her WL department does not recommend nor advocate for compounding pharmacies.
Without insurance, Zepbound is over $1000, and I have not had success with wegovy in the past (which is also over $1000 on my new insurance). I just got the Eli Lilly savings card, but I can’t imagine spending over $600 a month on this medication, does anyone have recommendations on house/where I can get this medication for cheaper? I don't want to travel out of the country or end my relationship with my doctor, so I am open to suggestions or hearing other people's experiences.
