I have a few theories too.

I’ve seen so many theories posted here, and ngl some of them are sooo far fetched it feels like we all just want to throw an original idea out there. And needing to find tiny details in EVERY SINGLE thing, did we not learn from Adam that it isn’t how these show runners seem to roll? It seems like we are reaching at just about anything and lashing out at the writers for not giving us instant gratifications instead of waiting to get an answer and living in the suspense. Why not just wait? The show is literally about suspense…

Anyways, that being said I have a few theories of my own, that I don’t think are reaching for some crazy shit, or baked around some tiny detail. it’s just what I think will go down in the nearish future. Some of them have already been posted here.

  1. It doesn’t even matter who burned the cabin down, and we may never find out. The characters and especially Shauna are so dead set on having somewhere to place the blame, but just like with Adam, or who “cut” Shauna’s brakes, it doesn’t actually matter. What matters to the story and is waaay more interesting is how they chose to react to those situations.

    1. Callie killed Lottie. She doesn’t know all the details, but she’s looking out for her family. Just like she did when she found out about Adam and the cop. She got close to Lottie but also kept her wits. Walter will confirm this with Shauna’s DNA. Maybe he and Misty arrive at the same conclusion, at the same time. What happens AFTER that will be more interesting anyways.
    2. The group will split soon, and they’ll both hunt members of the other group. That’s why Misty smiles over the pit. Her group successfully trapped a member of the opposing team.
    3. That being said, there could easily be more than 8 survivors. Just because we saw 8 in the opening scene doesn’t mean we were seeing all who are left. That could have been just one team. Maybe the team that was winning. There are 13 left, and there’s no saying that they evenly split up.
    4. Coach’s death is the bridge in that it causes the split, and whichever side Natalie is on finds rescue and chooses to go get the other group so they can all go back. Coach is not making it out, even though I want him to.
    5. The reason things are so slow right now is because the shift in their dynamic is such a key part of the show. When we look back at all 5 seasons, the slower pacing of this season will make sense.

No matter what happens, I’m enjoying this ride. I do not find this writing to be trash. I would encourage y’all to just sit back, stop attacking writers of an unfinished story, let yourself sit in the suspense that the show creates, and keep your mind open to whatever comes. That’s what makes storytelling so fun.
