Heavily considering an XC40, looking for some feedback / owners thoughts and feelings?
Hi all! If you clicked on this post, thanks in advance! I currently have a lease on a vehicle until 2026, and as a person who likes cars I'm staring to shop around and take note of my options. For reference, I daily a 2023 Jeep Compass Trailhawk.
I have always admired the XC40. Back in 2021, I saw my mother's friend's XC40 R-Design in Bursting Blue, and knew I wanted one from that day forward. Despite this, I ended up with a Compass. While I do love my car, I'm wanting for something that's a bit more peppy, more fun to drive, more eager to be driven if you will. Something that is a bit more premium and nicer feeling all around, while still being a good daily driver. I'm not looking for a sports car or anything, but I want something that might not be as soft and uninspiring to drive. My Compass wanders on the highway and isn't that fun to drive, and it doesn't feel as solid as I would have liked. That's where the XC40 comes in. It's the perfect size for me personally, and I adore it. Whenever I see one on the road, I'm in awe. I also want something that's safe, and since Volvo is known for their safety, I know that, god forbid, the XC40 would probably be the best choice if I were to get in an accident.
I've watched and red reviews out there, but I'm looking for real-world ownership thoughts from people who don't get wined and dined by the manufacture; people who actually live with the vehicle in their day to day lives. How does it ride and drive? I've heard that the XC40 drives pretty well and is pretty quick, is this true? Have you had any major issues with the car? I would probably end up buying out and keeping this car with an extended warrantee or something of the sorts. The only other vehicle that has really caught my eye is the Mazda CX-30 Turbo, which I have also heard great things about. Dealership experience would not really make a difference to me. As for the XC40 Recharge, I would consider this electric variant, but am not sure I would be able to make the modifications to my house to accommodate an EV. My mother already has a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid that uses a three prong outlet, and I know I would not be able to charge an EV like that, but would love to hear your thoughts if you have the XC40 Recharge. Thanks in advance for your thoughts, and thanks for reading!
