What do people dislike about the combat?

By all means, I'm not a "pro gamer", I play slouched on a couch, and I mostly focus on the good story... I never played any souls like games, mostly other RPG (god of war, horizon etc), but ever since witcher 3 came out I see people say that the combat is trash, and at least 5 times a week someone makes a post about it, and I simply don't understand why?

My first playthrough was on easy mode, so I thought I just don't experience the entirety of it, but currently I'm playing on death march, and I still don't know what's wrong with it? I'd even say I actually like it, especially since there are just so many different ways to play.

Is it about it being too easy? But I feel like most RPG games have very similar combat, since it's rather hard to input many skills or combos on a pad. I think horizon had much more boring combat system, yet I don't see people complain about it as much.
