1F MIG help
Howdy, posted on here yesterday about advice with 3F mig welds. Posted one picture of a 1F weld aswell just incase it wasn’t great, turns out it wasn’t. So before I move on to anything vertical Ive decided to work more on my horizontal welds. I was told yesterday I was whipping wayyy too much, so I’ve tried slowing it down quite a bit. Wanted to know if they look any better/ if I’m just headed in the right direction. I’d like to get into some correct habits as early as possible. With that said is whipping not a good idea at all? I’ve heard that it can cause gas to get trapped in between welds and cause failure. Is it situational? Or is the pattern not to important as long as there’s penetration. Roast the weld, all constructive criticism is welcome. so far Reddit is more helpful than coworkers so I’ll take what I can get. Last pic is of a weld from yesterday, first three pics from today. 18 volts, 150 wire speed, 3/8th thick steel. Thanks.
