A Light in the Mist Discussion
THIS IS A SPOILER-FILLED ZONE! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ 'A LIGHT IN THE MIST'. IF YOU ARE SPOILED FROM THIS POINT ONWARDS, THAT IS ON YOU
'A Light in the Mist', the sixth and final book in 'The Broken Code' arc, was released on November 9th, 2021. I read it all in one afternoon and am dying to discuss it with others who may have already finished it. What did you think of it? I genuinely think it's probably one of my favourites of the more recent Warriors books so far. This is coming from someone who genuinely enjoyed 'The Last Hope' and consider that book to be one of my favourites as well, so my opinion may not count for much, but what did you think? THERE WILL BE HEAVY SPOILERS IN THIS DISCUSSION!
What was your favourite part? Your least favourite part? Favourite character? How did you feel about the conclusion? My favourite part was definitely when Firestar took over Rootspring's body for awhile. I screamed and burst into shocked tears when we got to read from his perspective again, which we haven't gotten to do since 'Firestar's Quest', and not in a main series book since 'The Darkest Hour'. It made me feel so nostalgic and warm inside. My least favourite part was definitely any interactions with Ashfur... his talk about Squirrelflight and how he felt that he was owed her made my stomach crawl. My favourite character was probably Shadowsight, to be honest! I felt so bad for him when he had his connection with StarClan cut off, and he realized that he'd never been connected to them at all, and that it had been Ashfur the whole time. That destroyed me.
I was NOT expecting them to kill Bristlefrost. Her envisioning the future she would have had with Rootspring as she died made me sob. And the overall conclusion, with the Clans agreeing to find some way to allow cats from different Clans to be mates, was really surprising to me! I mean, it's about time, considering every arc has had some kind of different Clan romance since the beginning. It'll be nice to not have that as a point of conflict anymore if they do decide to make it okay with the warrior code and have some fresh, interesting drama at last. This arc was probably one of my favourites because the forbidden romance wasn't a huge subplot.
I have held on for two days after the book's release wanting to give people as much time to read it as I can since not everyone reads as fast as I do, but I couldn't hold it in anymore. I HAVE to talk about this book! Please talk about it with me!
