Why can we not remove Focus Lenses?

Two years ago, I put a Focus Lens on my main Warframe, which was a great way to get Focus when I was just starting out with unlocking those abilities. It only took a few months of both deliberate farming and taking opportunities during regular missions to unlock just about everything, and now my operator is set.

Now, though, I get Convergence Orbs spawning in every mission, they're incredibly distracting and I have like 2 million extra Focus points. I'd remove the Focus Lens if I could, but for some reason you can only replace it with a different one and still have the same problems. To my knowledge, no other equipment or upgrade has this kind of permanently active effect.

The only solution is to massively waste time and resources to build an entire extra weapon/Warframe with the same configuration, without the lens.

Does anyone else encounter this same minor inconvenience or issue?
