Politics at Work and Trump Supporting Customers.

I work in a Red County within a Blue State. In fact, this county is 40 minutes away from one of the Bluest Cities in the country. This City is so blue, it turns the entire state blue.

A lot of Trump Supporters walk in the store and come shopping. As a Democrat myself, i'm blown away by the amount of Trump supporters. Its sincerely unbelievable. A few of them come in with Trump hats. Once I was on the register and overheard a customer compare MSNBC to Cartoon Network. I also had a customer try talking to me about Trump while being in support of him. Its as if he wanted to have a conversation with me agreeing with him....

I remember during the BLM movement, I was being half silly half frustrated in a department and yelled, "BlackLivesMatter". A white woman legit was about to turn around and say something. For a bit, this made me uncomfortable that BLM made a woman angry enough to feel the urge to almost say something to me. In hindsight, i'm realizing how wrong it was for me to do that because i'm an employee first.

I recently spoke with a gay man that always walks into the store. He hates Trump and is often ranting about him. He came up to me and talked about how a lady overheard him, turned, and got offended by what he was telling his friend about Trump.

I also spoke with a friend about Elon Musk being our president while laughing... a female customer overheard and gave off a sarcastic laugh. As if she doesn't think this.... Elon is making so many demands and doing whatever he wants. Stuff he should not even be allowed to do. He also got Trump to fire a bunch of federal employees so he could replace them with DOGE. He wants to cut social security....

As of late with how Trump got rid of a DEI policy that prohibited segregated bathrooms on construction sites... I feel very uncomfortable in this country as a hispanic woman. The Trump supporters also infuriate me. I'm baffled as to why they'd vote to get cut medicaid just to line the pockets of the wealthy. I'm also mad that they voted for a party that wants to end abortion and make it harder for women to vote. Also, do they really still support these tariffs thats going to drive inflation sky high and even mentions of it have crashed the economy and have already made things more expensive?

I'm sorry. I'm just venting. I need to get some more self control and focus on myself instead of politics. I need to realize that i'm an employee first and need to focus on my job. I'm currently working on that.
