Cash Only Scam Call

My store was called by someone claiming to be from Walgreens corporate, telling us to stop taking card payments and use cash only. We felt it was fishy so we hung up and called SOC. They said it was a scam but my question is… what exactly is the scam? Are they trying to get us to keep a lot of cash in the registers to rob us?
