What is MyFaction / Persona Cards? - layman's terms explanation needed please.

Hi all,

I haven't played a WWE game since 2K14 (and modern sports games for even longer than that) so please bear with me.

I'm interested in getting either 2K24 or 2K25 (versions that contain the season pass) but from what I've read on this subreddit and elsewhere online, having the season pass doesn't give you all the characters in the game (plus upcoming DLC).

I'm reading that in order to unlock some of the roster you need to play MyFaction and/or acquire Persona cards but it sounds like a roll of the dice if you're successfull or not.

I can't quite get my head around what this 'mode' is or how it works.

I just want to get the game and have access to the roster so please could somebody explain in layman's terms what MyFaction is, what Person Cards are, and what I need to do to unlock certain wrestlers in the games that are 'locked' behind this mode.

I don't mind a grind but; maybe it's because I'm an older gamer; I don't quite understand what this mode is or how it works. Please also don't mention it's just like Fifa's FUT or NBA 2K MyTeam or similar as I have no idea what those are either.
