Hilton Waikoloa Vs Outrigger Kona?

I know this is apples to oranges, but these are the two I'm leaning toward. I have teen boys who, unfortunately, won't want to explore the island much. Last year we went to Kauai and they complained that I was "dragging them around" to all the beautiful beaches and sights. I had half a mind to do this Big Island trip without them, but I do so love spending yime with them- and I have just a few years before they become adults.
So my plan is to let them do what they like to do most of the time while I go enjoy Hawaii. They are happiest just chilling at the hotel, lounging at the pool, and buying food, saying "put it on the room" (they don't go too overboard- I was actually pleasantly surprised last year. I was leaning toward Hilton Waikoloa, but it's a cool thousand more than Outrigger Kona. Is there that much we'll be missing out in if we choose Outrigger?
We are going on June.

And I will be "dragging" them to a couple beaches and VNP. I won't let them be complete downers!
