Missing In Oklahoma: Michelle Crawford, went to the movies in 1999 and never came back home.
In 1999 Michelle Crawford was a 21-year-old junior at Cameron University and majoring in English. Michelle made good grades and had earned a full scholarship for the next semester of school. She was employed part-time at Gibson's Department store in Lawton Oklahoma. She was hoping to become a teacher and her family says she would have made an excellent one.
She was living with her parents at this time and they described her as generous, hardworking, and responsible.
On June 8th, 1999 Michelle was home with her parents. Her mom Kathy Crawford was already in bed but her father John Crawford was still up and sitting at the computer around 9:00 p.m. that night. Michelle informed him that she was going to the movies with a friend that evening. Michelle left in her parents 1986 gray Honda Accord. She has not been seen since.
When the Crawford's woke up the next morning and Michelle was not home they initially weren't alarmed. They assumed she'd either stayed with a friend or was already at her shift at work. However when her employer called and informed Kathy Crawford that Michelle had not shown up for her shift her parents knew something was wrong.
5 days after Michelle initially vanished, on June 13th the Crawford's vehicle was located. It was found parked "crookedly in the 1100 block of East Gore Boulevard between the then Best Western Hotel and the Montego Bay Apartments". Michelle's purse and other belongings were found in the backseat of the Honda. It was locked except for the front driver side door. She was nowhere near the car at the time of its discovery.
The Crawford's stated that at the time of Michelle's disappearance she only really had two close friends. After her disappearance they discovered that neither of these friends had plans to go to the movies the night of Michelle's disappearance.
Michelle's bank account has not been touched since she vanished and her social security number has not been used.
According to The Charley Project there is a theory that Michelle's remains are buried on a privately owned land in the Mountain View Oklahoma area. I didn't see this mentioned in any of the other articles. But that would lead me to believe there is a suspect or something along those lines that has not been publicly named.
Foul play is suspected in Michelle Crawford's disappearance. This case remains unsolved and the Lawton Police Department is investigating at 580-581-3250
Michelle was 21 years old and I'm sure she had a private life that she didn't share every detail of with her parents which is normal. I believe whoever she met that night possibly caused her harm. I don't even know if she really made it to the movies or had any intentions of really going there.
Her loved ones are still seeking the answers, as she left home one night in June 1999, and never came home.
