Autistic/adhd couple. We really got into a mess with money and we're nearly out of the hole. What next?

(I will say I in this post but it's basically both of us, it's just me who has been dealing with the debt situation) I've never been great with money and I got in a lot of debt. Started getting my shit together a few years back. Debts started to fall off my credit rating and becoming stat barred and I started getting offered credit again.

First it was high interest ones with small credit limits like capital one. Now it's slightly lower interest ones, with much higher credit limits. In total it's about £5000ish over about 6 or 7 cards. The higher interest ones I don't use at all. The lower interest ones I use a little bit and pay off in full each month. This seems to have helped out both of our credit ratings a lot.

Here's where I'm getting muddled. When I research online it says that having a higher credit limit and a lower utilisation is good for your credit rating but I've read conflicting evidence that having too many credit cards may show I'm too eager for credit and look bad. Should I look to close down the capital one cards that are unused? This would obviously reduce the total credit limit a little but would raise my utilisation a little bit should I need to use them?

So basically that's a long ass way of saying should I close the credit cards we don't use? If so, should I hold out longer until I'm getting better offers from more respected companies?

For clarity my total balance on the credit cards right now is £15 (only coz I can't pay it yet because it's been spent too recently) Should I even be making small purchases at all on the cards or does that make it look like I can't manage my money?
