I have diabetes at the age of 20

I(20F) have diabetes at the age of 20. I found out about it today after i had to collect my blood reports. The only symptoms i had were excessive thirst(which i chalked it upto the unnaturally hot summer this year) and a yeast infection in my vagina. I've made an appointment with an endocrinologist for tomorrow but my gynac(who ordered the blood tests) said at my age it can be reversed. Both my parents are diabetic and 3 of my grandparents were also diabetic so i knew this was coming one day or another.

But it feels so surreal,I'll probably be adviced to stay away from alcohol before i even reach the legal age to drink it. I currently live with my parents but i planned to move away for masters. I'll never get to live the classic student life where i live on instant noodles and energy drinks.

I'll have to put in much more effort than my peers to live a comfortable life. I wanted to study in europe and because of this diagnosis I'll prolly have to pay a bomb for healthy groceries. Not to mention a lifetime of very expensive insurance premiums given my history.

If i ever have kids I'll have to be extremely careful during pregnancy and probably keep an eye out for pre diabetic symptoms in my kids.

I'll have to make drastic lifestyle changes to live a healthy life and I'm just kinda sad i would get to experience wild and irresponsible early twenties.

If you're over the age of 18,get a health check up done. Don't be like me. This sucks
