Hospital Review - SUT
Just like we review and rate food places, we should do the same for hospitals, gyms, and other services. So here’s my take on my go-to hospital, SUT Pattom.
For the money they charge, their infrastructure is really bad. The building is old and worn out, although they seem to be renovating it now. When it comes to inpatient services, the staff doesnt quite meet mark. In 2021, I stayed there for about a month as a bystander, and the experience was frustrating. The AC was leaking, and the room stayed damp almost all the time.
But the doctors!🔥 They’re incredible. Every single one of them is really good.. As a hypochondriac, I’ve visited almost every department, especially ENT, and I can confidently say the doctors at SUT stand out because of the way they treat patients. They take the time to explain things in a way that anyone can understand. I have this habit of googling my symptoms and asking endless questions, which usually annoys doctors. But at SUT, they actually take it as an opportunity to educate.
For example, I went to Dr. Shalini ma'am dermatologist, because of itching after waxing. She patiently sketched out the layers of skin to explain why it was happening. Dr. Anu Thampy from ENT, She’s drawn so many diagrams of noses and ears for me 😁 And then there’s Dr. Anoop S. Pillai from orthopedics—my doctor crush. This man doesn’t just explain things; he’ll take Paint on his pc to draw on X-rays. And yes, woww hot 🫣
SUT has a digital OP ticket system now, which is a step forward. But honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this hospital if you value your time. The doctors are thorough and take their time with each patient, which is both a blessing and a curse, depending on your schedule. And as for their inpatient services—like the blood bank, wheelchair or trolley availability, or even the canteen—they really need to step up their game.
