Locked up?

Howdy.

I am seeking guidance.

I have a 2012 triumph tiger explorer 1200. It seems to have locked up. Was riding along at 6000rpms, and the motor quit spinning in a rapid fashion. I was not shifting, but running through a gear, getting ready to shift to the next gear. 50mph.

It started making that “crackle” sort of noise it will do like you didn’t fully shift a gear, and I pulled the clutch in. Noticed the motor was off. Of course it would not start.

Got it home and pulled off the clutch cover, looks great. Oil level is where it should be, and is clean. Coolant was clean and where it should be. Back wheel spins freely with clutch pulled in (in gear) and also neutral.

Removed the timing chain cover and three fingernail size chunks of metal came out, and a shim.

Question: is it worth investing money to get this fixed? I am capable and have done complete overhauls on multiple bikes, just not one this new.
