Help: should I do it or hold off?
29 year old female. I’ve always struggled with tonsillitis and strep, especially throughout my childhood. Unfortunately when I was a teenager doctors said I didn’t qualify due to not having enough cases of tonsillitis within a certain amount of time. Now 12 years later I’m so tired of the constant tonsillitis and the constant fatigue from not sleeping well. Here’s what they look like, sometimes they swell and touch in the middle and it’s just terrible. My husband says that when I’m asleep I breathe really loud, almost like I’m struggling to get air but not snoring. So I went to one ENT who turned me away and said that the risk of hemorrhage wasn’t worth it. Then I got a second opinion from an ENT at a bigger hospital and he said I would greatly benefit from a tonsillectomy, but he scared me when he described the amount of pain and length of the recovery. So my question is, after looking at my tonsils would you agree with the first or second doctor? Does anyone regret having a tonsillectomy? What can I do to really reduce my chances of hemorrhaging? I’m really scared but I’m so tired of living like this.
Thanks in advance!
