The importance of gear brand recognition

TL;DR version : a rambling about guitar brands

So, since very young, DPA have been recognized by some music manufacturers and received endorsements. Dany has been featured in Rick Toone'e website, Manson guitars (before the whole Matt Bellamy yellow guitar thing) and PRS. I believe she's shifting to Fender because all her baritones are Fender, although PRS also has baritone guitars. And her presence in the PRS website decreased when the Fenders started to appear in the European tour earlier this year.

Anyway, when I became a fan of The Warning, my interest in playing an instrument rekindled. So I picked up my dusty acoustic guitar and started to learn again some chords. I also read a bunch of articles and tutorials online, and watched/subscribed to some guitar centric YouTube channels. Looked for prices of Electric guitars, read some reviews about brands and models. I created a history of interest towards guitar content.

There's a new artist that those online algorithms started to push onto my feeds. Her name is Grace Bowers. She's 17 yrs old and has her own blues rock band. The thing is that her online presence is really small. Not a lot of streams, not many subscribers to her official channels and social media accounts. But she's frequently featured in music media because she's the youngest woman endorsed by Gibson. Lzzy Shake was the first woman with a signature model from Gibson, so the brand doesn't have a big history of featuring female players. So it's kind of a big deal for Ms. Bowers. The music industry is apparently using that foundation stone to push her as a possible replacement for Taylor Swift.

Most of the info I get related to The Warning, I get it from Reddit. I haven't seen them featured in my Google News headlines. However, I've seen Grace Bowers featured there at least once a week for the past two months, unequivocally talking about Gibson, the endorsement, her "all-Gibson" guitar collection, why she prefers SGs over LPs, etc. Yes, the algorithms are weird and I'm probably the only one here aware of Mrs. Bowers existence. But the articles keep appearing, meaning she's getting media coverage. I certainly wish hel all the success she deserves.

I hope that, if Dany switches to Fender as I suspect she will, she also gets some press coverage. Fender is certainly a brand with a broader market appeal than PRS. And that would drive traffic toward those articles and eventually toward The Warning official channels.

On the other side of the spectrum of brand recognition, I was watching some videos of a recent music expo in Manheim, Germany and found this brand Cream Guitars. They featured an instrument that changes colors, and it's not an LED screen. Not sure about how it works but it looks cool. The thing is the brand is originally from Monterrey, Mexico. The same town that houses my favorite band. And I would love to see one of those inverted Explorers changing colors while being on Dany's hands. Or maybe no on Ale's, as they also make basses. Let's wait if DW makes a color changing drum kit for Pau (20 shades of Pink?)

Keep rocking ⚡🎶♥️🇲🇽🤘
