About the Corruption Scandal

I know the corruption that is being talked about is what happened with Blair London but why is that such a major problem.

If you look at what happened it is that the department shrink was blackmailing cops into getting police information. Since that happened Blair was arrested and I guess the people she was blackmailing fired. I don’t seem to understand why it’s considered an ongoing/major problem this season
