Behind the Scenes of Pattaya Bar Girls

  1. Many women make a lot of money, but they don’t want to use it for themselves because of their responsibilities back home. Their families would say they are selfish if they do, yet their parents are still not satisfied.
  2. A long vacation is coming, but many girls are still reluctant to visit their families because they fear that 20,000 THB won’t be enough for just three days with them.
  3. Girls from certain types of families have to go to Pattaya to work in the sex industry and send money back home, while their brothers do nothing but use drugs and ask their parents for money, money that obviously comes from their daughters.
  4. If these girls are in a relationship with Thai men instead of farangs, their parents look down on them, calling them stupid and accusing them of not wanting a better life for the family.
  5. Some women in their 60s are still working as sex workers. Some of them once had a good life, receiving millions of baht from sponsorships, but they lived carelessly and ended up back on the streets.
  6. Some girls help their mothers pay off debt, but their mothers use the money to support new boyfriends.
  7. When girls don’t send money back home due to illness or other reasons, some families assume they must have fallen in love and are spending the money on their boyfriends.
  8. Some mothers use their daughters' money to pay rent for a house where they live with their new boyfriends. But when the daughters are no longer able to make money and ask their mothers' boyfriends to help with rent, the mothers tell them not to bother their boyfriends.
  9. Some girls receive sponsorship from multiple men abroad who believe they are the only one, but they actually use that money to support their real Thai boyfriends. In many cases, the Thai boyfriends know about it.
  10. When it comes to marrying a farang, some mothers expect a salary not only for their daughters but also for themselves and their boyfriends.

These are just a few things I read on a Facebook page where a man living in Pattaya shared insights about bar girls. I’m Thai too, but I had never known about these situations before. Even though I don’t agree with their way of life, I understand that people have different reasons for what they do. I can’t judge them if I’ve never walked in their shoes. My life is much better than theirs.

I’m sharing this because I want to show you another side of reality. You can choose to be more empathetic, more cautious, or avoid it altogether. It’s up to you.
