the absolute state of indias education situation (cases in point: CLAT '25, JEE '25, NEET '24)

hello.

a bit about myself. im a 12th grader pursuing law. i gave the major law entrance exam, CLAT, last year in December for admission into india's premier law institutes this year from July. its been 3 months. the result still hasnt been declared. usually, the result is declared within 3 weeks.

CLAT '25 faced the following absurd problems:

  • 10-12 questions (out of a total 120) were straight up WRONG. either the questions were wrong, the options were wrong, or the provisional answer key was wrong
  • the final answer key itself had incorrect answers as well
  • the conducting body charged each candidate who wished to object to the provisional ans key 1000 RUPEES PER OBJECTION PER QUESTION. daylight robbery i say.
  • there are discrepancies between the marks shown on the scorecard and the marks even from the wrong final answer key. for me it was of 4 marks out of a total of 120, but for some it was as bad as 20+ marks. thats several thousand ranks' worth of a difference in an exam where the total number of general seats is just 1500.
  • cases have been running against the conducting body in the supreme court and various high courts for 4+ months. our result still isnt final despite 4+ months having passed since the exam was conducted.

and i'm sure you guys remember the fiasco around NEET last year as well. 71 AIR-1s and all that stuff. there was a big ruckus around the exam that year. any reasonable person would expect the NTA to learn from their mistakes and not remake them this year.

NTA was, to put it lightly, a bit... carefree... with its handling of personal candidate data. and now the application data of ALL candidates for JEE Mains '25 January Session has been leaked. this includes, but is not limited to, FULL LEGAL NAMES OF THE CANDIDATE, THEIR PARENTS, THEIR PLACE OF RESIDENCE, THEIR IP ADDRESS, THEIR 10TH AND 12TH MARKS, DATE OF BIRTH, and several other things.

...yea. THIS is how we're treating the future lawyers, engineers, and doctors of this country? i simply cannot fathom that so much injustice has happened LITERALLY YEAR AFTER YEAR. god help this country, its going to hell.
