Teachers who had children, what's the best time to have them in terms of the school year?
Obviously, no one controls the due date. But if I was to plan for a family, what's a good time to start trying and plan for the school year?
I always thought OBVIOUSLY before summer vacation to get those two months of maternity leave + no sub planning, but now I've also heard that Nov/Dec is good for the holidays and then you can come back to work, and by the time summer comes, your baby starts developing their "firsts" in time for you to see them.
It's been tough to wrap my head around so any advice would be helpful!
More info: CA school teacher, pretty good public school district with benefits and a union, but still need to research how mat leave will work for me.
EDIT: Still going through them but thank you ALL for your detailed comments! I'd just feel happy and extremely lucky to have any baby at all. But you've given me things to consider that I didn't think about before, especially from the teacher perspective. And eased my worries about a few things too. Appreciate this support!
