Imposter syndrome
Hi all !! So I got hired as a 3rd grade teacher ! I’m super excited but extremely nervous too. Before this, the only experience I had was student teaching. When I talk to other teachers they say they were subs first or at least had some more exposure to the classroom but i haven’t so it makes me feel like I’m jumping into this really fast.
A students parent already emailed me and said their child was excited ! It just made me realize I’m very responsible for their child’s learning now.
I just feel like all the terminology I learned went out the window like looking back I have no idea how I passed student teaching. I did well, I got an A but sometimes I’m like, was that just pure luck? 😭
They have a lot of programs here - like I’ll be teaching foundations which I luckily did have in student teaching but there’s SO MANY RULES in the English language to remember.
And it’s just a lot to to teach every subject.
I’m supposed to have a mentor but they haven’t approached me yet so I have no idea who they are.
I’m just extremely nervous and feel like there’s so much to remember and I end up feeling I know nothing at all.
If anyone has any insight please tell !!
