New update 7.8.1 unlocks smartphone pairing in Canada
I was fussing around the new update and to my surprise, the new update actually unlocks bluetooth pairing with a smartphone.
Now, the app is not available in Canada, but that did not stop me from trying to get it. After some searches, I was able to get my hands on t:connect.ipa version 2.8.2 and sideload it to my iPhone running iOS 18.2 Beta RC 2 using AltStore.
I was able to sign in and pair my insulin pump without issues... until it asks to sync the pump. This will trigger the app to contact Tandem servers and geo locate from where the request is coming from. Since I am in Canada, the app says that there is an issue and won’t let me go any further.
If anyone ever tries to mess with this and is able to enable it, please let me know, as it would be an amazing feature way to long overdue in Canada!
P.S.: I am not trying to involve myself in any legal issue, I am just pointing out that the feature is enabled and in place. This could also mean an imminent launch of the t:connect app in Canada officially and not a bug! If you have any questions, shoot!
