Moving choice: Lausanne or Lugano?

Which of the two cities would you guys pick? I have these two options for a potential move, but I only know both places as a tourist. I've lived in much bigger cities before, but am happy to move to a smaller town now. Important factor: Italian is my mother tongue and I speak well French (with an accent), and I'm willing to improve it.
