What up with those “Sales Engineers”?

I was trying to get a price to buy a guitar (or several) yesterday, and the sales person was annoyed that: * I was not at my computer (sorry that I didn’t called around midnight when I actually had time to call) * My kids were playing in the background (he suggested me to leave them alone in the store I was in for a bit) * I didn’t want one of the guitars because it wouldn’t arrive in time (he even asked why I was not going to be at home, which was too much)

Then after that he was pushy for me to start negotiations after asking all of my information. In the end I decided not to take it anymore and just hang up.

Is it just that “sales engineer” or are there all like that? I know there is haggling involved which I don’t like a lot, and then when I’m thinking on getting an expensive guitar you are complaining on everything and questioning my decisions?

First time calling SweetWater, not sure if I’ll try it again. At least the GuitarCenter guys are friendly and really interested to make it easy for me.
