Which of the "newer" survival craft games I haven't touched is best at the moment, which shows the most promise?
Some of my top games i've played in the genre are-
Ark- i have more hours in this game than all others combined probably apart from Tarkov. started on ps4, then on to PC later. played official/community PvP for a while before settling into community pve servers.
Conan exiles- love this game, haven't been back for the last 2 big updates, so i'm sure it's a new game at this point. but I have played the shit out of this game on PVE servers. probably 2nd most playtime in this genre.
7d2d- love this game and come back to every year until i get bored which usually takes about 2-3 weeks.
valheim- great but uderwhelming, haven't touched this game since the release hype though so i'm sure there's much more to it. Still think i'm holding off for a 1.0 release.
green hell- good, game got what i wanted out of it
The forest 1/2- loved 1 tried 2 on release and quit 8 hours in. haven't tired since.
long dark- haven't really touched much, I remember being bored. this was before the "story" was released, but i read here all the time where the game shines is the survival/open mode.
Subnautica 1/2- loved 1. hated 2. maybe becuase i played them back to back, but i remember 2 feeling much smaller, and not being a fan of having a voiced protagonist. I've only played through 1 once, took about 60 hours. One of my favorite games of all time, but haven't ever felt the need for a "replay".
kinda in the middle- Icarus- still being added to it seems. I remember really liking this game, especially the instances/character progression. I did not like that it sorta required multiple characters due to limited skill points. not sure if still the case.
Newer games i haven't touched-
Palworld
Enshrouded
Soulmask
Return to Moira
Once Human
Nightengale
Out of these which would you recommend the most for someone looking for similar progression/crafting like those in ark/conan? Not wanting to play pvp, either pve server, or solo adventure like subnautica.
