Currently on 6mg suboxone. Want to switch but a bit confused.

I’ve been taking Suboxone for 5 years, and got serious about three years ago. Haven’t relapsed since, and tapered from 24mg to 6. I’m sick of it. Sick of the filmy, disgusting stuff. And I’ve heard only good things about Sublocade, mostly. My doc is willing to switch me. Eventually I want off all Bupe. But I’m confused.

Do I actually have to increase my current subs dose? It’s doable, but seems stupid and counterproductive. What is the switch like? I feel like a slave to my subs, and I can deal with discomfort, granted it’s not too extreme.
