New player, please help me understand how this game is meant to be played because this is neither fair nor fun.
The image posted was me shortly before being completely overwhelmed by the Fevarion devourers an extremely hostile, ravenous hive mind at the very outset of the game.
They controlled more territory with 3-4 outposts, a navy with ship power of over 700 While at the very same time (the start of the game) I had a built one additional science ship Had time to scan 3 systems And built one colony ship which then settled My starting military ships only had a strength of 200
I set the game so that was no advanced AI starts, no Fallen empires, a wide variety of species And yet this is the third game in a row that has had me start directly next to a ludicrously more powerful and already well established AI I've watched YouTube videos that explain how to avoid basic "noob" strategies yet I hardly have time to employ them But it just seems like the game is cheating and that's not what I want. I want a fair game they expand like they have infinite resources and multiple ships. Am I doing something wrong? Am I not understanding how to play? Or am I just not understanding grand strategy games.
