Andor -Does it get better?

I feel as I watched the first episode that it's a nowhere planet where scum and villainy lives and a local group of people who remind me of replace ewoks with children. The more I watched this episode the more I thought this was just nostalgia paint by numbers. I was never a Fett fan nor a Yoda fan so I bypassed both. In fact, Acolyte was the first series I was interested in, and I really like it. So I decided to try Andor. Does it get better? Does it build it's own story? I started watching it now as season two is supposed to leade into Rogue One, one of my favorites. Any opinion? Should I dive in at another episode than one?
