One of the reasons why sparking zero is toxic outside of the gameplay
I know why the Sparking Zero community can be toxic. Many of us grew up with the Dragon Ball Z or GT anime series and played the Budokai games. I personally loved the super sagas despite their criticism. However, the issue goes beyond gameplay.
Part of the problem is that many fans see themselves as the main character in their own life, much like Goku. This mindset main “character syndrome”is prevalent in today's social media-driven society, where people often curate a persona. Even I've caught myself thinking this way.
Interestingly, this phenomenon extends beyond gaming. Many bodybuilders cite Goku as an inspiration especially from the mma gyms and jujitsu rollers, and I've had conversations about Dragon Ball with people from various walks of life, from university students to gym enthusiasts.
My point is that when fans invest their identity in a character or storyline, losses or defeats can shatter their 'head canon.' This can lead to toxic behavior, especially when interacting with other players.
So, why am I sharing this? It's because I believe many fans and players need to recognize and address this mindset to create a more positive and supportive community
"A lot of players need to accept that rage quitting, spamming, and running from matches isn't the 'Goku way.' Goku would rather die than run – strategy is key, but honor and perseverance matter more.
Bandai may have created the game with profit in mind, but the community made it thrive. We made this happen, and it's time to embody Goku's spirit, not just claim it.
Being like Goku means adapting, keeping a clear head, and enjoying the fights – wins and losses alike. It's time to end the toxicity, the lust for cheap wins, and the constant complaining to Bandai.
If we don't change, the lobbies could empty out and the community will suffer. Let's strive to be better, to be like Goku, and to keep the spirit of the game alive. I don’t want to be that guy that says oh it’s just a game because it isn’t this is special this is dragon ball.
