Does anyone else have chronic impetigo. How do you keep it under control?
So, for the last three years I have had chronic impetigo.
This meaning every 3-6 months i'll break out with a patch of impetigo and it will take anywhere from 3 days to a month to shut it down fully.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and how they put a stop to it early on?
I contracted it while popping a pimple, while working with kids at 19. Now, if I am stressed out like crazy it will pop up around my mouth or chin and it sucks big time.
I used to have (almost) perfect skin! Now, it is so hard to keep it in balance.
I'll use a 25% mandelic acid solution to dry the fuck out of the spot, but it still takes a damn week for it to clear up.
Btw, I do NOT believe in taking antibiotics for the chronic kind because I notice it to pop up more frequently and me generally feeling like shit, I am also allergic to quite a few. I only take them if I am feeling feverish and the infection has spread to the size of a dime.
I have health insurance, but just paid off my medical bills, so I am avoiding the office for a while...
Sorry for the novel! I am just looking for tips or people in the same boat. Diets, topical and oral solutions are all welcome!!!
