How does deleting CC affect saved games?

My game out of nowhere started running slow, like momentarily freezes every 7 seconds. It is a large household like 20 sims in a huge house, but it’s never caused the game to run slow until just Recently. I’ve tried all the tricks, Nraas mods, settings to get it to run better, even moved the house and family to a new town with the same results. A few weeks ago I downloaded some CC for a completely different save, and roughly around that same time is when I noticed that my other saved town (the larger household) started to run slowly.

So anyway, if I delete the CC would that cause the other saved game to crash or not load, or will it load normally but just with the CC gone?

Or would it be best to open that town with the CC and delete it in game before I remove it altogether?
