Asking status on SF85P

I JUST submitted my SF85P. Going through a Public Trust investigation for a DHS contract job. I already have a SECRET with DoD being military but I’m about to get out and I didn’t know it wouldn’t transfer over lol. Anyways with me being only 72 days (yes I’m counting days) until my date of separation from military, I was wondering if anyone knows or has tried or if it would even be appropriate to ask my federal point of contact the status of my SF85P to see where I’m at or how much longer until investigation is done. I’m only asking cus I wanna gauge when I’ll start (if I get cleared) this dhs contract Job or if I’m gonna have to get a temporary job at Amazon and chikfila while I continue to wait for my clearance to finish.
