Stock/company got acquired by another company, how do you remove the old stock ticker from your account
Probably a weird question, I have this stock that's acquired by another company. On my account, I do have the new company ticker and all the price/market value and stuff. But the old stock ticker is still there, which shows N/A on all the price/market value, and $0 on cost basis, etc.
I wanted to have the old stock ticker removed, and contacted schwab via chat. The first agent asked me to fill out a form (abandonment of worthless security) and send it via secure message. Nothing happened after a few days so I fired up chat again, and the second agent told me that they are not able to do it because the company is not bankrupted or declared itself worthless. Only thing they are able to do is to enter an order for me in the hope that someone will buy it. That sounds like a crazy solution, because who would buy a stock/company that doesn't even exist.
Just wondering if anyone have any experience regarding this, and what did you do? Thank you
