Ok here’s my read on today’s phenomenon
The market started the day with everyone dumping everything, and climbed back up in the afternoon. This might be because people are trying to capture the bottom, since now tariff is fully priced in. Possible future retaliations from other countries, however, I believe is not and cannot be priced in at this very moment. The mass sell off towards the end of the day seems to prove this hypothesis. People are reducing their risks since the water is still unclear.
What does all this have to do with smci? As some of you might have noticed, it led the rise today and is by far the best performing major tech stock today. Before my theory was no stock can ignore the influence of the macro economy, not smci, not any company. Its performance in the past several days proves this point. However, this theory seems to be not working when smci’s price breached $35. This either means there’s a group of people who deliberately drove the price up, or investors in the market saw the intrinsic value of this company and started investing. Either way, today proved that we have strong support around $35, and congrats to those who bought in below $35, you guys have proven immunity now :)
Anyway, I think short term once the dust settles, which I hope it will very soon, smci will moon. My target price for this thing now is $50. Could be more or less depending on the macro economical situation then and possible catalyst. If you’re holding shares right now, you can chill and relax and watch the market fumble. If you’re holding leveraged derivatives like smcx or short-term calls, I really think you have to re-evaluate your risk tolerance, because this is a spaceship, but we don’t know when it can take you to the moon. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next year, we just don’t know at this point.
Trump is giving a supposedly “big” speech tonight, but given his track records, I wouldn’t expect too much out of his mouth.
If you have anything you’d like to share please post them in the comment section, these are just my two cents on the current situation :)
