No thank you’s on Christmas?!

Just a rant and just my opinion. Rover is my side gig to pay off debt. I have never cared about tips and I don’t plan on raising my prices anytime soon - I exclusively watch cats and I am mid range for my region. That being said, I still have a very flexible schedule for people because I don’t have kids and work from home.

I think that my busy schedule sitting over and ON Christmas and Thanksgiving has changed my mindset. On Thanksgiving, I accepted a short notice drop in for somebody a day before - a repeat client. She also cancelled on me a month beforehand only after I reached out to see where she’d leave the key. I didn’t charge her because she was sick and it was kind of a “one time” rule I have for charging cancellation fees. She asked me to do something out of the scope of sitting last time - kind of akin to checking to make sure something was safely turned off. And yet, she still didn’t even thank me after my last visit.

I watched somebody’s cats for the last 5 days including ON Christmas. I brought in their dozen packages every day and their mail etc. Not even a thank you. I left MY family on Christmas morning so you could be with yours. I acknowledge that is my choice as a sitter but dude…if you have people coming over on the actual holiday the rest of the world has off that day…at least throw me a thanks lol.

EDIT: To clarify - I am not asking for tips. Just a simple thank you, particularly on a day where most people can take the day off. Was it my choice to accept bookings? Yes, but my choice because financially I needed to. Because it’s a job, even if it’s a side job.
