New onset afib anticiagulation

If someone comes in with afib overnight,, let's say heart rates in the 140s and is admitted for a dilt gtt. The afib is new onset. They are hemodynamically stable. Do u start them on anticoagulation right away on admission with like a heparin gtt if there's no contraindications?
