Baijnath Temple Complex by the Katyuri dynasty (Suryavanshi)

The Baijnath Temple Complex is one of the finest in Uttarakhand made by the Kartikeyapura dynasty (Suryavanshi) situated in Baijnath, Uttarakhand, India, is an impressive assembly of 18 Hindu temples along the banks of the Gomati River. This site is particularly noted for its distinctive portrayal of Parvati alongside her consort Shiva.

This complex features 18 stone temples housing 102 stone images, with some still actively venerated while others are maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The principal deities worshipped here include Vaidyanath (Shiva), Mata Parvati, Nritya Ganapati, Karttikeya, Narsimha, Brahma, Mata Mahishasurmardini, Sapta Nartikas, Surya, Garuda, and Kubera.

Historically, the construction of the Baijnath Temple Complex was initiated by the Katyuri kings when they relocated their capital from Joshimath to Kartikeyapura, attracting numerous followers from various esoteric Shaiva sects, including the Lakulisha, Nath (Kanphata), Jangam
