I hate Gravity & Grace-Simone Weil
I absolutely hated this book. Sure, there are some “ok” quotes & I don’t regret the time I spent reading it. But here’s what I got: 1. Everything is connected to “God”- every idea, conclusions, creativity etc. It’s a very bizarre way of thinking 2. God must permit you to become better- I find this incredibly harmful, so many people might think they aren’t getting better because God is punishing them/disagrees with them 3. You can reconstruct yourself but it must first pass through God- agree with the first part 4. The book helps with people who don’t understand their emotions & others well enough. And that’s ok, but this is the very last book I would recommend 5. The philosophical ideas start off strong with good potentials & get quickly ruined by unnecessarily telling readers “we are not great, only God is” etc.
It’s still worth a shot whether you’re an Atheist, Agnostic, believer of God. It may quench your thirst for a new perspective of something; although it didn’t mine for sure.
