One year free
August 5th marks one year off FF. Don’t see a lot of one year posts so wanted to come on here just to let folks know it can be done and all of us will have these in our rear view. You can click on my name to read my story. I’ve shared in on and cast and various interviews. But the short of it is I’m a mom, former college athlete, very active, never been addicted to anything. I can’t give anymore insight than what other have on here. But I’ve been on this sight a while and tried to glean what I could. Just some tidbits: 1) consult a doc if you feel you need to but have a plan to get off helper meds.
2) from reading over a year, most folks taking 3-4 or less can quit cold turkey. I did…I was 3-4 a day. Folks taking over that amount seem to do better to taper down to that number then jump. Folks trying to taper to one a day seem to draw out the inevitable and ramp up usage.
3) folks taking 3-4 a day seem to have physical withdrawal symptoms for 3-4 days (very flu like) then begin to turn a corner, folks taking more than that long term seem to have physical symptoms 5-7 days then feel much better
4) YOU WILL HAVE WITHDRAWALS! BUT YOU WILL TURN THE CORNER! Stay the course
5) some withdrawal symptoms: insomnia (I didn’t sleep for 3 straight days and still went to work) restless legs, depression, anxiety, fatigue, cold/hot sweats, GI issues, the shakes, flu like symptoms, dry dry skin, funky smell, weird taste in your mouth, hair falling out, brittle nails, and there’s probably more
Again this is just a post of info I’ve gathered along the way by no means is this chiseled in stone.
Moral of the story is something has to click in your head and you have to want sobriety more than FF. I don’t know this is coming from someone who’s only been addicted to this. But tell someone, use this site, go to meeting or find a group. Just don’t give this company any more money. Lastly call your local representatives about this shit, whether you vote for them or not. Good luck to all!
