Granite lease with 11 months and 2 weeks instead of 12 months.
I recently agreed to rent a room with a granite apartment, expecting to pay $1,100 per month for a total of 12 months, which sums up to $13,200. However, upon reviewing the actual contract, I noticed it states that the lease term is only for 11 months and 2 weeks, with the total payment still being $13,200. Confused by this discrepancy, I reached out to them for clarification. They explained that this is standard practice for all new residents: the initial lease is for 11 months and 2 weeks at the cost of 12 months' rent. They also mentioned that upon renewal, the lease term would extend to a full 12 months for the subsequent year. Is this a common practice? Or have I fallen victim to a scam by granite?
