Pricing out 3d prints from a LGS, am I over reacting to this price?
I have a LGS that is trying to force me into paying $ 90 usd total for 2 full units of KT DKoK. They needed me to provide the STL. Which I paid for and supplied them. My agreement is setup like this.
- Resin: $30 usd as a down payment.
- I provide the STL.
- Time: $5 usd an hour. 2-3 hours per unit.
It required them 6 total hours for 2 full units. Which also took 3 weeks for them to complete the work..... When I asked what was going on after week two they said "We all have ADHD and forgot to do it because MTG pre-release is giving them anxiety." They sent me another bill today after the prints were completed for $60 usd. I asked why is it so much and they said the complexity of the bits were more advanced then they are used to and they had MANY failed attempts.
The prints look like trash. I refuse to pay for them. At this point I want my money back for the resin because they clearly don't know what they are doing. Am I over reacting? What do you consider acceptable pricing? Penny for your thoughts.
EDIT: Image is of the prints he sent me when I asked what was going on.
Edit#2: Update from the shop owner is as follows. Their message reads:
- I honestly don't care how much I get, I'm not going to pressure you. Gotta remember, $30 counts the Resin + 6 hours worth of printing. And not counting failures or test prints.
- At most? AT MOST $20 more. That's all I'd ask for. I don't want to seem like I'm pressuring you into a bad deal, you set the terms. The baseline is pretty much the 30$. Can you tell I'm still trying to figure out what is a system that works? The 5$ thing is a borrow over from the paint commission set up and I'm trying to make it fit well enough.
Now they want me to help limit test their printing capabilities as long as I buy the resin.
