How to tell boss?

Hi, this is my first pregnancy and I've only been working at my company for 4 months, literally only just put of probation 😅

I'm just into T2 (12w 2d) and I need to tell them as they want to speed up my training, I work in a lab that does have teratogens in. I had planned to tell them this week before they organized my training but they now need to accelerate my training because of an increase in work load.

I'm scared that it now looks like I am telling them because I have to, and that it looks like I tricked them to get maternity leave/pay which I definitely didn't and if I had I've planned it poorly as it looks like I won't qualify for pay.

How do I say? Is email or 1:1 meeting better? Has anyone experienced animosity from a boss etc?

I'm just really scared in honesty and stressed, baby is unplanned and as mentioned in previous post there is a lot of family things going on. Work have been very understanding about this but I feel that I have come in and asked for special treatment off the bat.
